Performance and Scalability Analysis

The mission of the Department of Veterans Affairs (VA), Office of Information & Technology (OIT), Product Development (PD) Office, Product Support (PS) Division is to provide benefits and services to veterans of the United States.  In meeting these goals, OIT strives to provide high quality, effective, and efficient Information Technology (IT) services to those responsible for providing care to the Veterans at the point-of-care as well as throughout all the points of veterans’ health care in an effective, timely and compassionate manner.  VA depends on Information Management/Information Technology (IM/IT) systems to meet mission goals.

Product Development (PD) is one of the offices within OIT that is the provider of choice for VA software solutions. PD provides secure, reliable, well-designed enterprise application software and services that deliver accurate, consistent and timely information to meet the commitments to Veterans and achieve the goals of the VA. PD is made up of several divisions including the Product Support (PS) Division which is responsible for providing application support to end users at the VA Medical centers (VAMC) through the us of Management Systems (MS) Support Teams. Health Product Support Admin 1 provides Health Information System and Technology Architecture (VistA) and HealtheVet VistA (Enterprise support in both management and administrative areas.

Project Accomplishments

Project accomplishments and associated activities are described below.

  • To be a team member within the Product Support Division to provide application support which include tier 2 help desk support for administrative and management of Enterprise applications with the OIT, PD, PS.

Enterprise applications include: Enrollment Systems (ES), ADR Enrollment System database, Standard Data Service (SDS) Reference database, Person-Service Identity Management (PSIM), Identity Management Data Quality (IMDQ) Toolkit, Person Lookup and Person Deographics.

VistA applications include: Enrollment Application System (EAS), Monitoring and Audit Software (MAS) 5.3, Income Verification Match, Means Test and 10-10EZ Processing.

  • To function as a Release Coordinator for new application software, enhancements and software fixes.

Coordination efforts include: reviewing and distributing packages/patches with supporting documentation such as technical manuals, user manuals, and patch description.

  • To serve as a member of the of the software development project team/Integrated Project Team for Enterprise Applications.

Responsibilities may include: Serve as a SME in the areas of requirements gathering, usability, supportability, feedback on testing plans, documentation and other project related artifacts.
